If you like funk, rock, progressive, humor, or talented musicians putting their all out on the table for you then get this album. If you have never listened to Geo’s music before prepare to be perplexed. On my first listen I loved a few songs, hated a few, and wasn’t sure what several were talking about. At first listen this is a very good album. If you have followed Geo, listen to the Geologic Podcast, listen to any science or skepticism podcasts, have ever considered the fairness/unfairness of the universe, like bizarre animals, enjoy sick drums or basslines, sing along, think current pop music is bland, or are a generally scientific or skeptical person you will find many “easter eggs” that push Geo’s work over the top! Remember 49% of humans are of below average intelligence, listening to George Hrab is guaranteed to improve your mind by at least 5% (references to follow).

Strange coincidence — the one and only time I’ve been to MD I bought my first Charlie Stross book in the Greetings and Readings bookshop right near the Hunt Valley Marriot.

When I try to download the Drake podcast, I get a file 0 bytes in size (right click, save target as, etc.). The other podcasts I’ve downloaded (a few newer ones) all worked without a problem.

As I have revisited this today, in thinking about upcoming Balticon 42, there were a couple of clarifications I want to make to the interview. (I’ll blame it on it being the last day of an exhausting con at the time of recording ):

1. I completely left out talking about the whole alcohol hand-gel concept – as opposed to anti-bacterial soap, those do work, and kill via direct toxic effect on bacteria and viruses… much in the same way that bleach does. Speaking of which:

2. There are several varieties of bacteria that are resistant to bleach’s killing effects. Fortunately, none of them have caused any significant disease in humans as of yet. Here, I mean “bleach” as in some strong dilution of a pure bleach solution. There are bacteria in hospitals that do cause human disease that have developed the ability to subsist, and thrive, in various cleaning solutions, but these are not typically composed of pure bleach.
